The most current, technically precise and versatile education available in the cosmetology training field today. Learn to become a Hairdresser, Hair Colorist, Cosmetologist, Stylist, Nail Technician, Make-up Artist, or Esthetician.
Our curriculum focuses on creating a secure foundation of the scientific building blocks for skin: its function, properties, and needs. Learn to become a Facialist, Waxing Specialist, Body Treatment Specialist, Medi-Spa Esthetician, or Make-up Artist.
This 3 day per week schedule allows our students to continue to “earn while they learn” to be a teacher. Learn to become a Cosmetology Teacher, Cosmetology Teacher with Experience*, or Esthetics Teacher.
Rockford-based cosmetics manufacturer ColorLab Cosmetics was launched when a local makeup artist wanted to recreate a discontinued shade of lipstick. Owner Mary Swaab has since patented her color-mixing methods, and now the company allows anyone to create private label cosmetics or custom cosmetics for a special event.
Rockford has been home to prominent players in the beauty and style industries including special effects makeup artist Shaun Smith (Face/Off, Darn of the Dead, and Chronicles of Narnia), Virgil Abloah (Louis Vuitton artistic director) and Kelly Bensimon (Elle Accessories editor).
Local startup Bearded Republic is manufacturing beard-care products including a variety of beard butters that can improve facial hair texture while moisturizing the underlying facial skin.
Each summer, Rockford’s Barber/Beauty Battle gives the community a chance to compete for style titles such as the Best Fade, Best Creative Hair Style or Best Creative Makeup. More than 2,000 people attend the annual event that’s sponsored by Tricoci University and supports domestic violence awareness.
The Natural Hair Health and Beauty Expo is an annual event held at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Rockford. Participating barbers and hairstylists each create a look that a model showcases during the runway portion of the event.
Beauty is an important part of special events, and the Stateline Splendor Bridal Expo brings together local wedding vendors including hair and makeup artists. This beauty event can give you insight into the latest special event style.
Federal student aid programs (i.e. Title IV) are available for students who qualify.
