So we have a lot of events coming up in the next several weeks to be excited about!
The Rockford campus is working hard to organize some donation drives / charity events to support our local communities. We have teamed up with the Libertyville campus with the intention of “adopting” a Ronald McDonald Home in the Chicago area. Efforts are being made to collect money and much-needed supplies to offer the families residing in this home a more comfortable stay during this hard time in their lives. We are definitely excited about the opportunity to do this and hope that our two schools really pull through and come together! Can’t wait to hear everyone’s ideas from both campuses on ways to raise money and awareness.
Staying closer to home, The Tricoci University Rockford Student Council has been working with MELD, an organization dedicated to helping young parents better their lives by providing them with an education, a place to live, and job training, as well as teaching them skills they will need as parents and providing a support system to young adults that many have turned their back on. We have a guest speaker from MELD coming in to talk to both our day and night students, as well as working on a donation drive and providing services to the parents that reside there. I will definitely keep everyone informed as more information on these plans become available.
As always, Student Council has been coming up with fun ways to give students something to look forward to and keep them motivated. Events/incentives such as birthday announcements, “jean” days, and “student appreciation days “ really seem to be helping our students come together and get to know each other better. Many of our students have had their day brightened up by our fifty cent “crush” cans and dollar candy grams that are available until Valentine’s Day. I would love to see more students involved in our school beautification days; unfortunately, we did not have many show up on our last one, but the ones who did really put effort into it and definitely made improvements to the school!
And of course, last but definitely not least, Rockford students are extremely excited to be able to attend America’s Beauty Show in Chicago in March! Runways, Exhibits, and Beauty supplies, OH MY!
