Kris Sorbie is one of Tricoci University’s most prestigious mentors and has been recognized for many years as a world-renowned leader in cutting-edge hair color techniques such as Ombré and, as an expert in the field of long hair and up-styling, she is one of the most sought-after influential color experts and educators in the hairdressing industry today. In 2014 she was named ‘Icon of Color’ for being the originator of Ombré color techniques; a prestigious honor awarded for the first time by Intercoiffure USA.
The two-time Master Stylist Winner, seven-time Nominee and Finalist of the prestigious North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) has been Lead Stylist on many New York and LA Fashion Week shows, a guest speaker at TeenVogue Fashion University and, for many years board member and judge for NAHA, as well as many other international industry awards. Kris has been described as passionate, creative, innovative and a master. Her commitment to education drives her to travel the globe to inspire stylists to create, reimagine and push themselves to the next level, all while maintaining her professionalism, unique perspective and sense of humor. Inventive, positive, detailed and fearless, she challenges salon owners, stylists, and students to see themselves and the industry in new ways so they can redefine and expand their brand. Her techniques are extremely powerful, stylists improve their skill set, consultation skills, retail sales, and in turn their bottom line. As an expert in the field of long hair styling, she raised the bar in the art of finishing. She has been lead stylist on many shows for NY Fashion Week and is a regular guest speaker at TeenVogue Fashion University.
Integrating her years of diverse experience as an art director, color consultant, video producer and Redken Exchange facilitator, Kris brings innovative trends and fashion-forward artistry to the forefront of the salon industry. Her ability to translate these into profit potential in the salon paves the way toward a better life for stylists, both financially and artistically. In her role as Redken Education Artistic Director, Kris equips salon stylists with the mastery to grow professionally and to profit from their role behind the chair. During 2009 she started her own company, Kris Sorbie LLC and created the ‘B-ING WHERE YOU WANT TO B’ DVD. In 2010 Kris launched the hands-on Bespoke Color & Long Hair ‘Up Styling’ programs she offers around the country. Following that, in 2011 Kris released an exciting new ‘MembersOnly’ affordable online education program, providing stylists around the world with continuous inspiration, motivation and education.
