Yesterday, Monday. January 16th, Tricoci University’s Chicago NE campus hosted an event for the ladies of the Boys and Girls Club of America. A group of teenage girls came in for a relaxing afternoon of pampering! Since we are usually closed on Mondays, we were able to have the entire salon open exclusively for the teens’ services. The lovely ladies from our Harlem location came out to participate and spread some Tricoci love.
Upon our guests arrival, each Boys and Girls Club girl was paired up with a stylist. We offered them nail services in addition to cuts, sets and styles. Several of the girls were able to get multiple services too! I was paired up with one of the club’s supervisors, and during her manicure we talked about the different programs and how she once went to the club as a teenager. They usually play lots of sports, so the girls were very excited to have a girly day in the salon. It was very encouraging to see how happy these girls were in our chairs. Even the stylists couldn’t stop smiling!
After their services had been completed, the girls sat down for a little chat with one of the Harlem educators. She went over products that they should and shouldn’t use, as well as some techniques to help the integrity of their hair. Many girls were surprised by how much damage a simple ponytail can cause! They each received Tricoci goodie bags so they could keep up their styles and use the tips they had learned. It was a great way for us to give back to our community and I’m thankful for the opportunity to be part of B&GC’s special day.
