The Chicago NW beauty school in Norwood Park opened in 2005 as the flagship campus of Tricoci University of Beauty Culture. Located at 5321 North Harlem Avenue, Chicago, IL, this newly renovated beauty school near O’hare has programs in Cosmetology, Esthetics, Barbering, and Instructor Training and features approximately 11,600 square feet of space, including a stylish clinic area (salon and spa), theory room, dispensary, library, wet room, lounges and classrooms.
Located just east of O’Hare International Airport off of I-90 and close to both I-294 and I-94, our Norwood Park beauty school can be easily reached from the Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Norridge, Niles, Elk Grove, and greater Chicago area. Students also find us easy to get to on the CTA’s blue line or bus line; as we are located just two blocks south of the Harlem Avenue stop near O’Hare.

The most current, technically precise and versatile education available in the cosmetology training field today. Learn to become a Hairdresser, Hair Colorist, Cosmetologist, Stylist, Nail Technician, Make-up Artist, or Esthetician.
Our curriculum focuses on creating a secure foundation of the scientific building blocks for skin: its function, properties, and needs. Learn to become a Facialist, Waxing Specialist, Body Treatment Specialist, Medi-Spa Esthetician, or Make-up Artist.
Our barber curriculum combines artistry, science and business savvy so you can learn what it takes to cut, color, groom, and style hair for men as a Professional Men’s Stylist, Master Barber, or Barbershop Owner or Manager.
This 3 day per week schedule allows our students to continue to “earn while they learn” to be a teacher. Learn to become a Cosmetology Teacher, Cosmetology Teacher with Experience*, or Esthetics Teacher.
Set in the 1950s, the setting for the hit musical Grease was based on the Taft High School in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago. With pink-haired beauty school student, Frenchy, getting a key musical number, Frankie Avalon sings, “Now your bangs are curled; Your lashes twirled; But still the world is cruel; Wipe off that angel face and go back to high school.”
As many travelers through the Chicago O’Hare International Airport know, style doesn’t have to suffer while flying. The airport includes several cosmetics stores including MAC Cosmetics and Beautique 21 Cosmetics. For a beauty treatment, visit the Terminal Gateway Spa, the Barber Shop at O’Hare Airport, or the on-campus salon at nearby Tricoci University Norwood campus.
For students interested in theatrical hair and makeup, the Gateway Theater of the Copernicus Center in the Jefferson Park neighborhood is a chance to witness on-stage beauty transformations. Attend a show or volunteer for a local production to help actors and actresses to create their characters’ style.
In other parts of the city, beauty events in Chicago include Makeup Show Chicago, America’s Beauty Show, and Chicago Fashion Week.
In the nearby O’Hare neighborhood, there are beauty expos held throughout the year. Mark your calendar for the Multi-Cultural Hair Show, REV Chicago Boutique Show, and Chicago Bridal Expo.
